Hydrocarbon permeability can be a serious problem on anything from the anti-corrosion coatings used on Oil Rigs and piplines through to components, tanks, filters and membranes. Testing permeability in many areas relating to hydrocarbons has become both mandatory and increasingly strict worldwide.
Traditional testing can be very slow, taking days, weeks or even months, and it is neither always neither accurate nor consistent. Versaperm, however, has introduced an advanced new and sensitive meter that quickly and accurately measures hydrocarbon permeability for a wide range of coatings and materials and from flat material samples to complex equipment and seals. Optionally the system can also measure permeability both water vapour or virtually any other gas.
The equipment is highly automated, computerised and produces results that can be accurate to within a few part per million for some gases.
The meter can determine the amount of hydrocarbon that either seeps out of a container or diffuses through a material or coating under test. These results can be required to check effectiveness, for health and safety reasons, or to meet the latest environmental and other standards.
The Versaperm system is simple to use and requires only minimal training, yet it boosts both accuracy and dramatically reduces the time needed to make the measurement. Sometimes results can be produced in as little as 30 minutes.
Versaperm also offers a laboratory testing service for companies that test too few samples to make the purchase of equipment viable
